Christopher R Boltz has been designing various elements of theatre since the early 1990s. He made the transition from young actor to magical effects designer for a production of Once Upon a Mattress for Ephrata Playhouse in the Park (Ephrata, PA). He found the world of design exciting enough to make a career choice of it. Since then his main focus has been set and lighting design for theatre and live events, though he has been known to design sound and costumes, and even write or direct on occasion. In 2002, he completed a Masters Degree in Theatrical design at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His work has been seen at Culver City Theatre in the Park (The West Indian), California State University at Northridge (The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe directed by Jane Wagner), 2100 Square Feet (Times Like These), The Sun Theatre (A Festival of Dance), the Century City Plaza Hotel (The Golden Boot Awards), and all over the campus of the University of Southern California. Some of his favorite productions have been: Star Wars Trilogy in 30 Minutes, The Rocky Horror Show, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Illusion, and The Boy Friend. For his work on The Boy Friend he recieved the James and Nony Doolittle Award for Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Design. He has had the joy of working with John Blankenchip, Eddie Bledsoe, Casey Cowan, Garvin Eddy, Sabin Epstein, Patrick T. Gorman, Alicia Grosso, Don Llewellyn, Bill Rauch, Rand Ryan, Jack Rowe, Steve Tietsort, Lily Tomlin, and Kelly Ward.
